Famous Faces of Banff

Famous Faces is a photo scavenger hunt through the town of Banff with a distinct historical and cultural theme. But that’s not to say that it isn’t a lot of fun! It’s just that while your group is out having a great time seeing Banff and being challenged with some very tricky questions, you’re also learning all about Banff from its beginnings to the present day. Who knew that Banff was home to so many famous people?

In this event each team starts out with a digital camera, a map of Banff and a clue sheet. The clue sheet is divided into 2 sections. The first half asks teams to take specific photos around Banff based on solving questions and riddles and the second half requires teams to fill in a crossword puzzle based on the answers to the questions above. As with most events, the teams that work best together and have the most creative thinking win!

Participants should be prepared for being outdoors for a good portion of the time. (wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the time of year).

Sample Photo Scavenger Hunt Clues

One of today’s best NHL hockey players was born and raised in Banff. Take a photo of anything that has his first name on it.
Mary Schaeffer is Banff’s most famous woman from the 1900’s. Take a photo of her home in Banff.
Take a photo of the famous face that is attached to this hand.
Which famous face adorns the entrance to Banff?
Bonus points: What did this person let loose in the Cascade Hotel?
Who was Banff’s first mayor? Can you get a photo of this person?
