Mountain Madness Games

We have a very large selection of "Mountain Madness" games that are at the heart of all of our team buiding events, whether it's an Amazing Race, a Mini-Olympics or any other event. The games are all of fairly short duration and can be used, in all kinds of combinations, to create your own personalized team building. They are also available in almost any location, though some are season dependant. Many of them can be run indoors as well. Conference resorts and hotels, lend themselves well to indoor programs.

Canadiana Games

Animal Puzzleranimal puzzler

Putting a puzzle together may sound simple but your group will be challenged with this event as you try to put together giant 1-meter size puzzle pieces! The object of this activity is for the group to work as a team to put together as many animal puzzles as possible in a limited time. The game gets really crazy when lots of teams all try to put their own puzzle together at the same time!

Giant Ski Racegiant ski race

If one person on a pair of skis is efficient, then obviously 4 people on a pair of skis are more efficient, right?  We have set up a slalom course to test this theory.  Using teamwork, each group must step at the same time, turn together and reach the finish line as fast as they can. The teams that work best together will finish the fastest. Each pair of skis is 10 ft. long and 4 or 5 people at a time will have to strap themselves on to a pair.

Junkyard Dogsledjunkyard doglsed

When dog power is absent, we can rely on human power. First your team builds a dogsled out of materials you might find in a junk pile plus lots of duct tape and then rather than trying to tame a pack of snarling pooches, your team will muster thoroughbred racers from its own ranks. The rest of the team provides ballast in the sleds as the teams "mush" to the finish line! Teams are given a supply of junk-type materials and they have a limited time in which to build a sled that will be strong enough to pull one team member. All other team members do the pulling!

Giant Table Hockey

This is another game modelled after a typical Canadian kid's game: Table Hockey. In this case though, the game is played on the ground and you are the players. Each player can only move along a set course, just like the table game. This is an exciting way to play hockey that is safe, fun, and can be played by anyone!

Active Games

Stuffed Bunny BungeeBunny Bungee

Strap yourself into a padded harness and then attach a bungee cord to your back. Why not? In this game, your team's challenge will be to collect as many ferocious stuffed bunnies as you can and bring them back to a central location. Of course the bunnies are all located just out of easy reach while you're attached to your bungee and that means you're going to have reaaaaaach as far as you can without being pulled unceremoniously back! Oops, missed again.

Tree Maze

Everyone loves the challenge of a maze! This exceptional rope and harness maze is a little more interesting. Team members clip themselves to a rope and must then walk or run the entire length of the rope as it twists around trees and over and under itself a number of times - while carrying a glass of water in one hand. When team members reach the other end they dump the water into a bucket and the next team member then starts the process all over again. All team members participate and the first team to carry the equivalent of a pail of water from one end of the course to the other wins!

Snowshoe Obstacle Coursesnowshoe obstacle course

Who knew snowshoeing could be so much fun? Team members must get over, under and through a maze of obstacles to complete this relay-style event, all the while wearing traditional wooden snowshoes. This game is run as a relay race around a circular route. Each team will begin at a different location on the circle. Participants will have to negotiate their way around the course and obstacles while wearing traditional wooden snowshoes. Optional: Snowshoer is blindfolded and guided by another team member.

Mountain Bike Obstacle Coursemountain bike obstacles

You are a champion mountain bike racer and it’s the Canada Cup. Normally you’d be racing on real mountain trails, but this year all the trails have been closed due to bears. A challenging track has been created which reflects the obstacles and difficulties found on a real trail except that on this course you are not allowed to get off your bike! There are sections of the course that correspond to challenges that can be found on the trail including: fallen logs, low branches, sharp corners, a narrowing track requiring other teammate assistance and a flat tire which must be changed without rider touching the ground!

Dodge Ball

This well-known team sport is loads of fun! Two teams of any number of players play against each other in a game of player elimination! The players need to either “dodge” or catch a large foam ball. When a team member is hit by a ball but does not catch it he/she is eliminated. The team with the last person wins.

Broomball

A traditional game that is great to play at any time of year. It's fun and safe and gets everybody out and being active.

Climbing Wallclimbing wall

This event will get you climbing the walls, literally! Imagine your team is part of a mountain rescue. Your goal is to get your rescue equipment to the base of the mountain then climb up and bring down the victim. Team members climb to the top of a climbing wall as quick as they can to beat the other teams and gain clues and points for their team. Teams choose 2 team members to do the climbing. The climbers wear safety equipment including a harness and are belayed as they climb up the wall. Other team members will drag or pull a rescue toboggan when needed. The event is timed and the climbers that make the best time win.

Virtual Race to Dakar

Test your skills and your imagination as you race your bike around one of the most challenging bike courses on earth! The only difference between this race and the real Dakar rally is that your bike is a very tiny bicycle with training wheels and your course is only about 30 metres long. Nonetheless, it's still a heart-pounding, adrenaline charged competition where only the toughest team will survive!

Strategy Games

Summit Flags

Be the team to pull the last flag off of the mountain “summit” and claim the mountain as your own. Using logic and cunning, your team competes against other teams to remove just the right number of flags from the cairn at the “summit” so that your team is the one that claims the last flag standing. A great test to see if your team can think as a team under pressure.

Crazy Compasscrazy compass

It is a logistical and planning challenge! This timed team building game challenges your team to build a circuit of rope using a variety of directional markers cut in 30, 60, 90, 135 and 180 degree angles.  The team completing this task in the shortest time is the winner. Each team will have to use 10 directional markers to lay out the route that the length of rope is to take. At the point where the directional marker lays on the rope, the rope has to then follow the direction the marker indicates. The object is to place the markers in a way so that both ends of the rope will eventually touch.

Amazing Mazeamazing maze

This game is similar to one you may have played as a kid. Remember the small box with the tilting table where you controlled the movement of a marble around a series of obstacles? Well this game is the same except... it's much, much bigger and your team of 4 will each control one corner of this large table. The object of the game is to effectively communicate among your team so that you can move a ball around an obstacle course without losing the ball through one of the pitfalls!

Radar Golf

Tired of loosing your ball? This is a game of hide and seek. We hide the golf balls and your team tries to find them using our golf ball locator. The quickest team to find the find the golf balls wins! Teams compete against the clock during this event. Special golf balls are hidden in a playing field and the teams must locate the balls as quickly as possible using our special golf ball tracking device.

Stranded!

A storm has left your climbing party stranded on a narrow ledge. A path of stepping stones large enough for one person can lead you to a cave for shelter. As you leave the ledge you realize that you have left your locked survival boxes behind and the keys are around the necks of the people who left first. Now you need to get the people with keys back to the survival boxes to get the equipment. One wrong step could send you tumbling off the mountain!

Shark Infested Watersshark infested waters

Imagine your team is stranded on a deserted island…and you’re all hungry! There's no food except a single can of beans floating in the middle of a shark infested pond. You can't go in the water, and the only things you have to retrieve the can of beans are a few sections of rope. Some good creativity thinking and teamwork will solve your problem, otherwise you'll go hungry for a long time!

Find the Tacky Tourist

This game is a hoot for everyone! Using riddles or clues your team will have to try and find our staff person dressed up as a Tacky Tourist on the streets of Banff. Teams will be given either a clue or a riddles to assist them in narrowing the location of the Tacky Tourist.

Winter Only Games

Snow Sculptures

Let your creative side out! Frosty the Snowman is nothing compared to the sculpturing possibilities that are out there when a team gets working together. Over the years, we've seen some amazingly brilliant and unique sculptures - Volkswagens, ski hills, living room suites - built using nothing but shovels and scrapers. An excellent way to focus on group dynamics.

Winter Snow Hut and Shelter Buildingsnow hut

Spend some time learning how to build snow shelters in winter. You'll be amazed at how easy it is, how strong the shelters are and how warm they are inside. A great survival skill. And destroying the structures after completion is great fun too!

Western Themed Games

Calf Ropingcalf roping

Yee Haw!!! Set in a western style donut tent, cowboys will need to rope up some stray “doggies” that have escaped from the stock pens. The “doggies” will be moving in a track set up in a circle. Ropers from each team will be sitting on a “horse” located in one of four different corners of the playing area. Each roper will have a lasso and pigging string. On a signal, the doggies will move in the track and the ropers will attempt to lasso a calf.  If they are successful, they get off their horses run to the calf and tie three of the calf's legs together. Each team accumulates a total of successful ropes/ties.  Teams that lasso the most doggies win.

"Break Camp not Wind" Outfitter's Racebreak camp race

A great challenge to test your wilderness skills! The weather has turned nasty and your group of outfitter's has to break camp in a hurry and find a more hospitable location.  The team quickly disassembles camp, put all supplies into backpacks and then moves camp and sets up in another location. The winner is the fastest to complete the task which includes opening a can of beans, tasting them, and saying "Ummmm, great beans!" In this game teams compete against each other at the same time. The fastest team to pack up their camp and reassemble it in a new location wins!

And believe it not, there's even more!
